Dairyland President and CEO Bill Berg talks about the benefits of wind energy at the McNeilus Wind Farm dedication. Probably the most well-known type of renewable energy is wind. Dairyland initially invested in wind during the 1990s with a one-third interest in a wind turbine farm in Chandler, Minn. Since then, Dairyland has greatly expanded our wind investment. In October 2003, Dairyland contracted for wind energy output from the G. McNeilus Wind Farm in Adams, Minn., and has since added to our participation in the wind farm. This growing partnership nets 18 MW of renewable energy—enough to power 4,800 residential homes in the Dairyland cooperative system. Future plans include further investment in renewable energy from the McNeilus Wind Farm. |
