Weston #4 Power Plant

Dairyland Power Cooperative acquired a 30 percent ownership share of the Weston #4 power plant in December 2005. Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, a subsidiary of WPS Resources Corporation, holds 70 percent of the plant, currently under construction near Wausau.

The agreement gives Dairyland a 150 MW share of the $752 million, 500 MW plant.

“The members of our cooperative system have shown a steadily increasing requirement for electric energy,” said Bill Berg, Dairyland President and CEO. “While we will continue to expand our renewable energy portfolio, ownership in Weston 4 will help satisfy a significant portion of our members’ growing energy needs.”

About Weston 4

Wisconsin Public Service Corp. obtained regulatory approval and began construction of Weston 4 in October 2004. Construction of the 500 MW facility, sited at WPS’s existing Weston plant near Wausau, is on schedule to begin operations in 2008. The new plant will use state-of-the-art technology to maximize energy production from low-sulfur coal.
