As a founding member of the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives brand, Dairyland Power works to sustain a powerful connection with the communities where we operate facilities through participation in numerous community events and projects.
The region’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives are a major sponsor of the Touchstone Energy-YMCA “Got Energy?” triathlon (supports the YMCA’s “Strong Kids” campaign) and supporter of the Wisconsin state high school track meet, Iowa State Fair, regional basketball tournaments, parades, fairs and many other events.
Dairyland was also once again a “Pacesetter” company for the 2008-09 United Way campaign. Employees did an admirable job of setting the pace for generous community giving, with contributions matched at 65 percent by Dairyland.
Annually, Dairyland employees team up for the American Cancer Society Run-Walk, assist at Rotary Lights a community event that brightens the holidays and raises donations for area food pantries) and hold a Community Gift Program where employees purchase holiday gifts for neighboring nursing home residents.
As a cooperative, one of our founding principles is to help educate and strengthen the communities we serve. To help develop the Myrick Hixon EcoPark in La Crosse (now known as the Myrick Center), Dairyland donated $10,000 to the EcoPark to fund an educational kiosk about raptors, specifically the Peregrine falcon. Since 1997, Dairyland has been instrumental in helping bring back the once-endangered Peregrine falcon species to the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Nesting boxes are erected at two of Dairylandís power plant facilities on the river in Genoa and Alma, Wis. Nearly 70 falcon chicks have hatched at Dairylandís nesting sites since the falcon restoration program began.
As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, our vision will remain focused on our members and our commitment will always create a “Powerful Connection.”
